Podere Forte Petrucci 2005

The 2005 Petrucci is 100% Sangiovese aged in French oak. It is a luxurious wine with lovely density and purity. Dark red fruit, smoke, tar, tobacco and licorice are all intertwined with perfumed, floral aromatics in this vibrant, medium-bodied wine. Today it comes across as remarkably complete and beautifully balanced. Only the slight dryness of the tannins on the finish keeps the score from going higher, but that is mostly a function of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020.
