Avide Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico Barocco DOC 2001

14% alc. 30% frappato, 70% nero d’avola. Two and half years in barrique, plus one and a half years in bottle. Smoky, rich, blackcurrant nose, with dense, sweet fruit, and mid palate fragrance. This is a remarkably youthful, gentle giant sort of wine. Tasty. It offers complex fragrances of vanilla, blackberry, currant and pomegranate. Warm on the palate but very elegant. This is not your standard Cerasuolo di Vittoria by any stretch. The wine exhibits dark concentration and plush aromas of blackberry and sweet almond thanks to 18 months of oak aging. This is a fuller and denser expression of what is usually a light and compact wine.
