Scorched earth, tobacco, wild flowers, cedar and worn-in leather all take shape in the 2008 Bramaterra I Porfidi. A deep, earthy wine, the 2008 stands out for its depth and complexity. Graphite, smoke and plum notes wrap around the virile, imposing finish. The tannins could use another year to soften, but there is a lot to like here. The 2008 is 70% Nebbiolo, 20% Croatina and 10% Vespolina that spent two years in cask followed by a year in smaller French oak barrels.
