Fontana Candida Merlot KRON Lazio IGT 2018

A BIG MERLOT. Kron, as a Merlot in purity, is yet another confirmation of how our land is particularly suited for the production of international quality vines, giving life to a wine of great elegance and complexity, with a distinct mineral profile and great freshness. Kron is produced in the splendid vineyards of Fontana Candida, in Monte Porzio Catone, in Lazio. This wine represents one of the flagships of the estate. It is made entirely with Merlot grapes, harvested manually when fully ripe. After a maceration on the skins for 12 days and subsequent fermentation, the wine is left to mature in small oak barrels for at least 12 months. Bottling and aging in glass follows. It has an intense ruby red colour with purple reflections. The nose offers rhubarb, ripe plum jam and slight hints of undergrowth, dried violet and dry leaves. Also strong flavours of berries, with spicy hints that end in clear notes of tobacco. On the palate it proves an elegant and full-bodied wine, with soft tannins, classic of the grape variety, linked to a noteworthy enveloping, structured, complex and long finishing.
