Raffaele Vecchione – WinesCritic.com 94 pts / VM 93 pts
WC: Intriguing and decidedly multifaceted, it alternates notes of black plums, sandalwood, mandarin juice, cedar pieces and shea. Medium-full body, very smooth tannins and a persuasive and essential finish that pleases for its modern and exhaustive vision. Better from 2024.
VM: The 2019 Piantonaia, 100% Merlot, offers good depth and density in the mid-weight style of the year. Black cherry, plum, licorice, mocha, cloves and incense all take shape in this savory, potent Merlot. I would give the tannins a few years to soften.
