Pojer & Sandri Rosso Faye Vigneti delle Dolomiti (CS, CF, M & Lagrein) 2004

Cabernet Sauvignon 50%, Cabernet Franc-Merlot-Lagrein for remaining 50%. Ageing potential 20+ years. Rosso Faye has a deep garnet red colour with tinges of dark violet when young. The bouquet is clean and complex with scents of wild berries, blackcurrants, cherries, plums and hints of vanilla, roasted coffee beans, pepper and cinnamon. On the palate, the wine shows full body and rich extract, with fruit flavours balanced elegantly by tannin in a long finish that reveals a sweetness of licorice. Though seductive from the start, the wine will gain in depth and complexity for a decade or more. Pairs well with game meat like hare, rabbit, venison, roast veal shank with polenta. Goes well also with aged cheese.
