Sandro Fay Il Glicine Valtellina Superiore Sassella 2017

A release of about 7,000 bottles from a single vineyard, the Sandro Fay 2017 Valtellina Superiore Sassella Il Glicine reveals a slightly more Mediterranean personality, although the vineyards are located at a high altitude, at 470 meters above sea level. Glicine is wisteria flower in Italian. The fruit is round, soft and lifted with wild berry, sour cherry and Japanese plum. Those nuances are delicate and contained, however they do show some vintage ripeness. There are soft touches of medicinal herb and spice on the close. The finish is silky and fine.
