The 2007 Barolo Cerretta bursts from the glass with a rush of dark berries, flowers, minerals and leather. This is an especially overt, fruit forward style. Darker notes of tar and smoke develop in the glass, adding complexity and gravitas. A powerful, authoritative finish rounds things out nicely. The Cerretta is pretty intense and tannic, but seems to have the depth of fruit. In short, this is a beautifully balanced Barolo. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.
