AG: Black cherry, plum, chalk, smoke, leather and gravel all flesh out in the 2012 Gazin Rocquencourt. Dark and baritonal in its expression, the 2012 is deep, plush and quite expressive. Substantial tannins appear on the finish, suggesting the 2012 needs at least a few years in bottle. Best of all, the 2012 delivers superb quality and personality. The blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot. Michel Rolland consults.

WA: Deep, rich, red and black currant fruit, plum, soy and Asian spice are present in this inky/purple wine, which is medium to full-bodied with supple tannins, outstanding concentration and very impressive aromatics. Drink it over the next 12-20 years.

JS: A very attractive red for the vintage with blueberry, dark chocolate and light nut character. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a delicious finish. Very well done. Better in 2017.

WS: This has a solid, gutsy feel, with lots of briar underscoring the vivid plum sauce, fig and blackberry fruit flavors. A bolt of licorice snap emerges on the fleshy finish. A strong showing. Best from 2016 through 2022.
