100% Nebbiolo from a strict selection of the best grapes from the Breclema vineyard (with exposition to sunlight) in the hills near Monte Rosa (second highest in Europe) formed during the interglacial period. Soil is rich in minerals due to significant composition of crush rocks and soil (moraine). Vineyards located at 280 – 310 m asl. Rackings performed twice a day during the fermentation process in order to enhance the extraction of the anthocyans and the polymerised tannins from the skins, which give that characteristic velvety, sweet and at the same time austere taste to this wine. In March, the wine will be transferred to oak casks for ageing for at least 24 months before bottling. The bottles were then stored horizontally for refining lasting over a year. 13.5% alc . The colour is ruby-garnet red. It has a clinging scent, with hints of liquorice, wild red berries and violets. The flavour is typical and yet particular, delicate and persistent. Full bodied (dry extract: 30,05 g/l) and yet elegant with it’s soft tannins that harmonises in its vibrant structure. Can age for up to 15 years. The name of this Ghemme “Collis Breclemae” comes from the medieval village of Breclema, strategic stronghold of the counts of Biandrate, at the entrance to Ghemme, near the foothills of the Valsesia. The vineyard lies on the hills surrounding the ancient village. Parchments dating back to the year 200 mention the property of the vineyards on the hills of Breclema as belonging to the Canons of the Island of San Giulio d’Orta
