Ca’ dei Frati Lugana Brolettino 2019

The Ca’ dei Frati ‘Brolettino’ is a superb white wine made from the Turbiana grape variety which is native to the Lugana wine region of Lombardy. Ca’ dei Frati train their vines low, plant at a high density and reduce yields which allow them to produce concentrated wines with a distinctive sense of place. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled, stainless-steel tanks. After this, half of the wine was transferred to small 225 litre barriques for six months, while the rest remained in stainless-steel tanks until the final blend was assembled. Pale gold in colour, Brolettino opens with aromas of stone fruits and a touch of vanilla spice from the oak ageing. The palate has rich peach characters, with a creamy, honeyed texture lifted by stony minerality. It is intense and concentrated through to the fresh finish.
